Floods are the #1 natural disaster in the U.S.*
The National Flood Insurance Program provides flood insurance, but it is purchased through insurance agents qualified to sell policies. Floods are natural disasters that usually aren’t included in most homeowners, renters, or condo insurance policies. But, depending on where you live, flood insurance may be federally required. If your home is in a high-risk flood area, you may be required to purchase a policy. If you live in a moderate or low-risk flood area, flood insurance may not be required but is still available to you.
Unlike other insurance policies, flood insurance is federally regulated. Therefore, rates don’t differ from company to company or from different agents. Rates are dependent on factors such as age and type of home and your area’s level of flood risk.
